Compound Finance's Twitter Account Hacked

Compound Finance, a prominent DeFi protocol, suffered a security breach as its Twitter account was hacked. The compromised account posted an advertisement for "free $COMP tokens," directing users to a phishing site that mimicked the official website. Cybersecurity entities like Scam Sniffer and Officer's Notes issued warnings, advising against clicking on any provided links. The phishing site, identified as a "Pink Drainer" scam, was designed to steal users' cryptocurrency.

Blockchain security platform Scam Sniffer reported that the phishing site was spotted 16 hours before the alert. Additionally, blockchain investigator ZachXBT traced funds stolen by the site, which were laundered through the eXch exchange. Approximately 275,700 LINK tokens, valued at $4.4 million, were phished and transferred to a Pink Drainer wallet. Two Ethereum transactions were linked to this incident, indicating the scale of the theft and highlighting the victim's authorization of a significant transaction to the attacker's address.
