Author : Renuka K

Mintlayer, a Bitcoin Layer-2 protocol, has announced a strategic partnership with Salus, a Web3 security services platform, to develop the Thunder Network, an advanced Layer-3 (L3) solution. This new network aims to significantly enhance Bitcoin's scalability, privacy, and transaction speed by incorporating Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) capabilities. This will enable developers to create Bitcoin-connected decentralized applications (DApps). By leveraging Salus' expertise in zero-knowledge (ZK) technology, the Thunder Network will ensure secure and private transactions while maintaining Bitcoin's decentralization principles.

Enrico Rubboli, Mintlayer's Founder, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Integrating ZK technology will revolutionize Bitcoin’s scalability and provide powerful EVM capabilities to build applications on Bitcoin. We are excited to work with Salus to unlock Bitcoin’s full potential." Shawn Chong, Salus' COO, highlighted the synergy between the two companies, emphasizing that their collaboration will drive innovation and adoption in the Bitcoin space while upholding security and privacy standards.

The partnership marks a significant milestone in the integration of Bitcoin with the broader blockchain ecosystem, aiming to provide a fluid, high-performance user experience. Despite challenges such as data availability and bandwidth limitations, the Thunder Network's development represents a forward step in overcoming these technical obstacles.
